The international movement known as Pictorialism covered a period between the later 19th and early 20th century and represented both a photographic aesthetic and a set of principles about photography’s role as art. Pictorialists believed that photography should be understood as a vehicle for personal expression on a par with other fine arts.

The following work represents a desire to revive these principles. It is a personal journey that reflects the artist's love of nature and landscape paintings of the same period - and for the 21st century.
